Roasted Red Pepper Hummus

Vitamix Recipe Roasted Red Pepper Hummus

Chef Steve Schimoler created this spin on classic hummus with the addition of sweet roasted red pepper for flavour and colour.

  • 125 ml (½ cup) water
  • 170 g  roasted red pepper
  • ½ Tablespoons extra virgin olive oil, optional
  • 125 ml (½ cup) Tahini
  • ½ Tablespoons lemon juice
  • 2 garlic cloves, peeled
  • 1 teaspoon hot sauce
  • 2 cans (825 g) chickpeas, rinsed, drained
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon salt, optional
  • ½ teaspoon ground black pepper


  1. Place all ingredients into the Vitamix container in the order listed and secure lid.
  2. Select Variable 1.
  3. Turn machine on and slowly increase speed to Variable 10, then to High.
  4. Blend for 1 minute using the tamper to press the ingredients into the blades, or until smooth. Add additional water if necessary to keep mixture flowing freely through blades.
